The Yoga Lab

This class is designed for the yoga geeks out there and/or for students that are looking for more personalized attention and instruction in a yoga asana class.  The Yoga Lab is an interactive environment where we (teacher and students) experiment together.  It is a unique opportunity to enter into a dialogue of verbal and physical conversation.  We explore questions and answers about alignment, philosophy and life.  The work can be very physical at times and very subtle at others, it is always different, often with a hands-on component and partner exercises.  The “advanced” element of the class is not in physical endurance but in minute refinements and willingness to be mindful of habitual patterns.  The mature and skillful instruction allows for a safe space to do healing on many different levels.

Living in Alignment Yoga

Based on a steady commitment to alignment, as well as, physical & emotional safety, this class offers a unique balance of a light-hearted approach and an engaging asana experience. The welcoming environment creates a class that is alive with questions, philosophy, and humor based on connecting real life situations to the physical practice of asana. Living In Alignment Yoga is a bridge of tools and practices to lead you from your mat into your life more passionately and skillfully.  Practice “walking your talk” as we try spiritual philosophies like clothing onto our embodied selves.  We bridge the gap of talking about ‘living a fuller life’ and ‘changing our habits’ into practical ways to actualize those ideals.

Move to Heal

This class was created specifically for veterans and their care-givers.  ‘Move to Heal’ is a weekly exploration into different breathing techniques that help regulate the nervous system.  It is an opportunity to experiment with moving one’s body as a way to release long held tension, as well as, an education in how emotions and thoughts are connected to the physical body.  Perhaps most importantly, ‘Move to Heal’ is a place to build community because healing happens together.

Yoga Lab

What began as a 2-hour advanced asana/intense practice class has morphed over the years to become an experimental laboratory.  In this class we explore the typical approaches to asana practice, as well as unconventional approaches.  One never really knows where the practice might take us; could be partner assisted work or long discussions or full-on sweaty asana.  This class honors all levels of practitioner, one does not have to have any experience to join, just an open mind to what yoga CAN be.

Therapeutic Ball Rolling

In this class we will learn and practice certain ball rolling techniques, every week is a different area of the body.  We will also explore the spiritual and psychological themes and symbolism of this type of work.  Balls will be provided for use during class.  The therapeutic use of balls is a simple yet profound tool for transformation of tight fascia, chronic pain, and general body imbalances. The balls assist in pinpointing areas of tightness as you massage and hydrate those places.  This work is a perfect complement to an asana yoga practice or any kind of alignment oriented physical activity.  It is a quick & easy solution to better health on a daily basis.  Absolutely any level of practitioner can benefit from this work.

Yoga Church

This class was formed as a response to the quarantine/isolated experience of COVID.  We join together (mostly on zoom, yet in-person practitioners are welcome) weekly to have a full-bodied dharma discussion at the beginning of the class then transition into movement at some point.  This class is about how we use the tools of yoga to live a more intention filled and purposeful life.  If you are looking to be a part of a heart-felt community and longing to feel more comfortable moving your body then Yoga Church is a great place to begin.
